Guest Blog Interview- Mercedes Siler

Moscato and Tea Featuring Mercedes NA/YA Author

Here at Moscato and Tea the ladies had the chance to do an online guest Interview. One of our favorite’s often is an Entrepreneur, and Author. Today Mercedes A Top Amazon NA/YA Author, plus highly recommended Beta/Critique Partner in publishing has joined the ladies. Discuss her process, love of writing, and of course a little Tea Time thrown on top. Don’t forget to retweet, follow, like, share, and comment the interview below. Shop Mercedes Siler at Amazon.com.

What Genre do you write? I write New Adult Fiction and Romance.

Where are you from? I grew up in a little town called Mira Loma in the Inland Empire of Southern California. I’ve lived in Riverside and now Corona.

How did you get started? I started writing actual stories in middle school. I would expand on crazy dreams I had.

How long does it take you to write a book? It varies. One took me about six weeks, one took me about eighteen months.

What is your work schedule like when you're writing? Schedule….ha.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk? Oooh…I don’t know if I have a particular quirk. I do have ADHD and sometimes that makes it so that if I’m hyperfocusing, I can write over 10,000 words in two days, and then other times go weeks without writing. I also have the habit of circling a topic in multiple stories.

Any advice for other women wanting to start a business or become a write? Get it, girl. Nobody’s going to give you permission and no one’s going to do it for you. Just get it.

Which hurdles did you personally face and how did you overcome them? Being poor. Having no start up capital is tough. But I heard this great wisdom from an awesome business lady in my life: You either pay in money or time. So I just put in a lot of time.

How did you get started? Talk me through it. Ugh. It’s been a process. First I had to write the book. And then I learned how I was supposed to have written the book and redid that. And then learn everything about publishing. I spent a lot of time learning about the traditional publishing world before deciding on self-publishing.

What genre would you right in besides romance? Any. But it has to have at least a little bit of romance.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Maybe social work. I care about people.
